No better friend you ask for.

I read recently that you become “the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with”

For anyone that can include Ali in their 5, you will be a better person for the opportunity and privilege.

I met Al on my first day at Uni and have classed him as a best mate ever since. We were, for all intent and purposes, joined at the hip of the subsequent 10 years.

In those 10 years, we lived together in one terrible and one nice apartment. Spent many a weekend enjoying the “delights” of Putney High Street and explored a range of cheap holidays, some expensive stag do’s, better weddings, and few Christmases with the family. All of which with hilarity at every turn.

Our greatest achievement together was probably buying our first apartment. The apartment was located next to South London’s 24-hour Ambulance depot, which in hindsight, would have been good to know, but as first-time buyers, not something we’d considered checking.

Ali was genuinely a lovely guy, kind, thoughtful and generous to a fault.  He did have a terrible problem will spilling drinks on himself, but I guess no one can have it all.

My residing memory of Ali will always be how much fun he was, from the hours we spent watching quality 90’s movies imitating Arnie and coming up with “better” one-liners, to the hours we spent in drinking holes using said one-lines on each other and anyone unlucky enough to have been with us, usually Alec, Tall Paul and Alex.

Having been away from the UK for many years, I watched Ali grow into an amazing Businessman, Husband and Father.  Through the distance, I still felt as close to him as I ever did, and I will continue to act as juvenal as always when watching 90’s action movies (in your honour).

Hearing the news about your passing has deeply affected all of us and we are deeply saddened.  I’m lucky to be able to call you a friend and forever proud of how much you managed to achieve.

It was too short, but you sure crammed a lot in! I hope I will be able to regale Felix with many tall tales of your adventures when he's a little older.

You will be terribly missed, but always have a place in our hearts. You will always be the third Pacey brother to me and Alex.

Rest well my brother.

Love you always.
