Work buddy

I don't have a quirky story about Al to share. I don't have any pictures that I can upload. But what I do have are fond memories of one of the nicest and most genuine guys that I've had the pleasure of getting to know though work.

Put us in a room together and we'd always wind up talking about our shared love of travelling - many of our memories mirroring each other as we recounted the epic adventures we undertook in our Halcyon days. We pretty much did the same backpacking route years prior and could talk for hours about grotty hotels and exotic beer from the far east.

He was someone I instantly gravitated toward because of his unassuming demeanour, warmth and friendly smile. He was passionate about the industry and footie but this paled in comparison to the devotion he showed for what really mattered to him, his family. My one regret is that I didn't get to know him like many of his other close colleagues and friends.

I hope Kate, Felix and all of Al's family take some solace in the fact that Al was so well respected, admired and loved by all of those whose lives he touched.
