I first remember hearing about ‘this awesome guy from work, who is frustratingly going travelling,’ I couldn’t wait to meet this guy who had turned Kate’s head. When Al did return from that amazing trip and I was finally introduced to him, he certainly lived up to all expectations. 
Al was so big hearted. Nothing was too much and he never expected anything in return. 
He always started up a conversation with, ‘So how are things with you?’ 
He always offered up his seat and to get the drinks in.
He always asked after Lewie.


The care, consideration and generosity Al showed Lewie will stay with me forever. From trying to inspire his curiosity for the world via National Geographic, to in-depth WWE discussions and getting down on the floor to play Lego. All the way through to sharing his home so I could take Lewie on trips to London. Not to forget attempting (and failing!) to hide age-inappropriate Xbox games! Al will never know how much I appreciate his presence in Lewie’s life.


Lewie and I hope that Lewie can provide some of the same guidance for Felix as he grows older. We’ll check with Kate for age appropriate Xbox games though!
